i have a link to your blog on mine, and i've just discovered a one price store via another blog.
it's definitely for the young (no bifocals) hipster, and -10.00 is the highest they go. i LOVE their frames, and they offer a try-it-at-home option.

I ordered from eyebuydirect last Friday. I went to check on the status of my order at their web page and it says, "order was not found." I had copied and pasted the order number, so it's not that. I called their 866 # to do order tracking and it just hangs up on me. I called again and did after sale customer service and you just get a recording saying they are busy. An email to customer service on the day I ordered just got answered by a bot saying, "Due to Bogo, we may take longer than 24 hours to respond." Okay it's been 4 days. Hmmm. I don't think I will be getting the glasses anytime soon.

@virginia,
They contacted me a month or so ago and I wrote back complementing and requesting some information. I never heard back. - At April 1, 2010 at 4:58 PM Anonymous said...

I've got the same problem as Virginia. I ordered 1 wk ago and my order still shows "not found" and, though I've reset several times, I still can't log in to my account. No response from CS on this. Good thing I'm not in a hurry. Business must be good for eyebuy! I just don't enjoy them taking my money and leaving me hanging.

Ira-
I just wanted to thank you for your site and leave some bad press on 39dollarglasses.com. I found your site through the Slate piece and after taking a look at it, I decided to buy from 39dollarglasses in January. The glasses came quickly, but didn't seem right. I wore them for a few weeks and then took them in to my ophthalmologist to check out. He confirmed that instead of a left axis of 120, the glasses has 55!
I expected an easy fix and called 39dollarglasses. They sent a prepaid return label, and I put them in the mail. This time, however, I had to wait 3 weeks for a reply, even after USPS said they had received the glasses after a week (maybe less.) When they finally contacted me, they offered to fix them and send them back to me. I agreed. They took another few days to get the glasses to me, and they're still not right! I emailed them about it, and they asked me to send the glasses to them at my cost so they could inspect them! I expect another 3 week wait until they report back that the glasses are not the correct prescription, which, of course, I already know. Pretty poor customer service, and execution, as far as I'm concerned. I'm getting a pair made at a bricks and mortar store, and I'll move on to try my luck at Zenni or Goggles4U.
Thanks! Just wanted to vent a bit. Is there a spot on your site to direct criticism of online sellers? I don't have much leverage aside from that.
Thanks. - At April 14, 2010 at 8:40 PM Ira said...

So much for this deal. I ordered from them almost 3 weeks ago with faith considering the solid review here, but I've still yet to receive anything. If the company can't keep up with orders they are going to remain known as a risky alternative to the brick and mortars. When they finally arrive, they may be a splendid product, but I've already decided that they shall never get my money nor recommendation again.
