Outlet: Goggles4U
Ordered: October 26, 2006
Received: November 8, 2006
Price: $62.72 (w/ shipping and code 'STTJ2W')
Communication: Order verification. Notified when shipped. Emailed them regarding status, got back to me promptly with minimal information.
Quality: Good. The fit and finish is not perfect, but only I know that (very minor). They look great.
Impressions: Very pleased for the price and features. Would use them again for cheap pair.

Outlet: goggles4u
Ordered: 28 Sep 2006
Received: 12 October 2006
Price: $24.69 USD = CDN$28.13
Communication: email, right away

Quality: excellent
Impressions: The frames I ordered showed up as "sold out" 2 days after I placed my order. So I was hoping that was AFTER my order was filled. (and it was)
Quality was excellent, spring hinges same as my main pair of glasses. You can not tell the difference in quality. The PD seems slightly off, but that could be my fault.

Rating: 4.5!

I also placed an order from Select Specs the same day. They arrived 1 week after the Goggles4U order.

Goggles4U came from Pakistan
Select Specs came from the UK.

Ira,

Thanks for the great info. One thing though...When I checked out Zenni Optical's selection, I noticed a LOT of different sizes. Is there a "method" of determining the best size for my face? Please share any experience on this topic in your blog. Thanks!

Outlet: 39dollarglasses.com
Ordered: 3/8/07
Received: 3/14/07
Price: $182.90
Communication: Yes, they let me know when glasses were in process, shipped, and let me know tracking number
Quality: Very well made - one lens is slightly too big, causing the metal frame to not come together all the way, but it is only noticeable very close up or under a magnifying glass. AR coating is beautiful.
Impressions: At first I thought the frames were flimsy compared to my old Flexons, but they are no different than other flexible frames in the stores. I think they are just as sturdy. With my -12 prescription, I had to pay an extra $39 for custom thinning, which, due to my choice of smaller frames, I think it was only worth about $10 at the most. At any rate they are not much thicker than the frames. I was surprised at the short turnaround for such a high prescription.

Outlet: Zenni Optical
Ordered: July 31, 2007
Received: August 10, 2007
Price: 66.85
Communication: e-mail confirmation of order, not of ship.
Quality: Half frame basic, VERY stiff earpieces. Left lens was chipped in the lens area, not on edge. Prescription incorrect. Returned them on 8/13 with the following comments.

1.Left lens has a chip.

2.Prescription appears to be incorrect. Reading area most noticeably affected as only one eye at a time is properly in focus dependent upon side to side head movement. Also reading area is extremely low in lens area. Only able to make out two lines of text in a newspaper before the actual bottom of the lens. Distance view also requires eye strain to properly focus.

3.Distortion in progressive area that manifests itself as a u shaped bend to horizontal lines such as the lines of text on a computer or when looking at a window sill. This effect is most noticeable at 2 to 3 feet distant. This effect is constant so that when you move your head, it moves with you.

Three weeks later I emailed to ask where the replacements were. Zenni answered the next day with "We have received your returned glasses and checked them. The lens was scratched but the prescription on the glasses was correct. However, we would like to remake for you at no additional charge.
Since you said that only one eye could focus at a time, we advise you to have your PD rechecked with the doctor who provided the prescription and email us your mono PD for each eye." I tried to call them but got the message that their automated phone system was down and that I should try to call again tomorrow.

Impressions: Very poor. They had the glasses for three weeks and didn't bother to call or email me until I initiated the communication. Also, I have had my eyes checked at the same place (HMO) for the past 15 years and my PD has been the same that entire time. And yes, I tried having them properly fitted and it was not the problem.

Outlet: 39Dollarglasses.com
Ordered: September 11,2007
Received:
Price: 143.06 for Progressive, Tinted lenses with AR coating.
Communication: They emailed me that they received my order and I clicked on the account. Only then did I notice that there was a note on the account that I needed to contact them as I had incorrectly entered my SPH. They gave a toll-free number. They answered my call quickly and polietly. When I emailed them again (as the script on my account had not been updated) they wrote me back and answered my question in a timely, efficient manner.
Quality: Great. This is the first time I have worn bifocals and I wanted my first pair to come from my doctor. I ordered a very plain pair of silver, titanium progressives by Marchon and the whole package w/o the anti-reflective coating was $610.00. OUCH!!! The sunglasses from 39Dollarglasses.com look just as good, the prescription in perfect, and I got anti-reflective coating. They are a little heavier that the titanium Marchons, but look almost exactly like them.
Impressions: What a terrific experience! I was a little unhappy with how DHL just tossed them onto my front porch, but other than that I feel I was treated in a first class manner. I am so thankful that you have this blog, because you have just saved me a whole bunch of money! As soon as I finish this post I am going to 39Dollarglasses.com to order a spare pair! I highly, highly, highly recommend these guys!

Rating: 5 Absolutely the best!

Outlet: ReplaceAlens.com

Ordered: Forgot

Received: Took 3 weeks

Price: $165.00 and 180.00

Communication: By email and then the called when they wanted money.

Quality: Terribly built glasses, had to return one pair, the other pair was ok. They are a bunch of jerks!

This is one of the worst online experiences I have ever had. I found some awesome Oakley frames on
ebay I found this company online after doing some research I decided to trust them ! Big mistake. So
my first order took at least 3 weeks to show up. I ordered one pair of Drivewear lenses and another
basic single vision, high index, uv coating.

When I pulled the Drivewears out they were chipping and flaking off around the edges, there was also
a rainbow blurry oily like effect on the lens that would not wash off. When I wore them I almost
Puked from nausea.

The other pair was ok but seemed a little pricy to me. I called and told them about my problem, said
I was returning them and no longer wanted the Drivewears. I included and old frame I had and
Requested credit for the return and asked them to make me a single vision, high index, transition
Brown pair. So now 3 weeks goes by and Alex emails me and tells me they were done but a defect
Was found and they had to sent back. I patiently wait, then they call and want 30 bucks difference.
See my emails below. I tell them no, that they should eat the cost for all the trouble I went thru.

My glasses arrive today, wrapped in bubble wrap, placed inside and Oakley bag, I pull them out and no
Nose Pad! I had specifically asked alex several times to have new stick silicone pads installed. Guess
This is his way of screwing me in the drive Thru.

Dear Kevin,
Thank you for your business! Your glasses are complete and ready to be shipped, but first we need your payment information. Please give us a call at 1.800.752.5572 as soon as you get a chance.
Thanks,
Alex @ ReplaceALens

What is the balance since I returned the defective pair of Drive wears under warranty? My calculations show $ 30.00 bucks difference.
I feel you guys should actually cover that cost since yet again another pair of my glasses were messed up and delayed and the shipping charges I have had to pay to send them back etc.
Customer service to eat the 30 bucks is a small price to pay especially if I am ever to use or recommend your services again. I am not upset. I just think that Quality Control is lacking for your glasses. Did you see the drive wears I returned? They were horrible. The edges were flaking and there was a rainbow effect on the lenses?
And then you email me and say my Transitions glasses were defective and sent back.
Let me know, and I hope you agree to cover the measly 30 bucks and send me my glasses that I shipped you over a month ago.
Thanks Alex
Kevin

Alex, have you had time to consult the higher powers that be and get the super secret authorization so I can finally get my glasses? Or do I really have to actually pay you guys 30 bucks?
Subject: Re: Warranty and the 30 dollar Question of the Day?

Dear Kevin,
Your glasses were shipped today. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Alex @ ReplaceALens

Hey Alexis, are you the owner of this Lame Ass Company? You probably are since you’re such a Girly-man. I loved how you returned my Glasses with only ONE nose Pad! ! ! Very Friggin Cute Alexis. I bet you were laughing your ass off when you pulled it off of there prior to shipping.

That’s ok though, a quick trip to a real eye care professional and I am back in business for $ 2.00 dollars.

Now time to start blogging away the internet telling the whole world how you guys suck and not to buy from you!

Have a Lousy Day CHUMP !

Quality: Lenses are great. Frames ok; not designer, but passable

Impressions: Overall very good experience. I was able to call in after placing the online order to change frame styles. Their selection of frames is not the best out there, but the website/lenses/service are top notch. I got nice progressive lenses, all coatings, and case. Cost me about $400 less than optician's shop.

Outlet: eyeglassdirect.com
Ordered: 9/4/2007
Received: 9/25/2007 and 10/9/2007
Price: $260 for two pair
Communication: I received an e-mail after the order was placed, after that any communications had to be initiated by me. They were reasonably prompt at answering e-mails.
Quality:
On 9/4/2007 I ordered 2 pair of eyeglasses, flexible titanium semi-rimless frames, one pair polarized lenses, one pair transitions lenses.
On 9/21/2007 I sent an e-mail asking when I might receive my glasses.
On 9/23/2007 I received an e-mail saying they would ship mid-week.
On 9/25/2007 and I received the glasses.
The pair with transitions lenses were barely adequate, there was a small gap between the lenses and the frames by the nosepads and the lense edges were not polished (a small thing perhaps, but the website clearly states that all eyeglasses come with polished lense edges).
The pair with the polarized lenses had the lenses transposed (right lense where left should be and vice-versa) and not only were the lense edges not polished but the bottom of the lenses had some deep gouges and there were pieces shaved out of the lenses like someone has been whittling on them.
I contacted eyeglassdirect.com and was told to send them back (at my expense).
On 10/2/2007 I mailed the glasses back to eyeglassdirect.com (at my expense).
On 10/5/2007 eyeglassdirect.com received the glasses (per the usps receipt).
On 10/9/2007 I received the glasses back. The lenses were in the correct sides of the frames now, but the bottom edge of the lenses still looked like someone was whittling on them, there were still the deep gouges and the edges were still not polished.
As I have neither the time, patience or money (since the glasses would need to be shipped back at my expense each time) to pursue these problems with the company I just want to warn others not to use this company.
Impressions: I get the impression that they are swamped with work and do not yet know what a lot of online customers expect, like an email when the product is shipped with a tracking number. However in my mind being swamped might be an explanation for the glasses taking a bit longer to make but not for crappy workmanship.

Outlet: My Eyeglasses (www.myeyglasses.net)

Ordered: Various, 3 orders

Received: 2.5 to 3.5 weeks (shipped from Hong Kong)

Price: $53 per pair (if you buy 3) Accepts PayPal for the credit card weak at heart.

Communication: Great - promptly emailed receipt. Nice personal note from Mr. Kam with package.

Quality: Only sells rimless designs. Quality is good so far. Biggest drawback is that you have to order 3 pairs to get the good deal. (I've mixed mutiple prescritions in a single order with no problem).

Impressions: I was turned on to this site by an airline pilot friend - the thin, rimless designs are great for flying - lite and easy to see under to read the instruments. As a group we've ordered 3 times - regular lenses, bifocals, tints, etc. We've always been happy. Can't beat the price and quality especially for the "hingeless" frames. Everyone compliments these glasses.

Rating: Got to say 5 (good)

Ordered: October 14, 2007

Received: Not Received

Price: $257.90
Communication: Emailed Confirmation of receipt. Emailed 2 days later to say they couldn't fill the order because there was no PD. Emailed me daily to tell me to remind me to call my doctor because they couldn't process the order then charged my credit card regardless they couldn't ship it due to not having my PD. I emailed them to leave me alone and when I had time I'd call my doctor. I told them not to charge my credit card as they couldn't fill my order and they charged it anyways.

THE WORST EXPERIECE OF MY ONLINE BUYING EXPERIENCE WHICH STARTED IN 1996 or something like that.

Quality: As long as they are the real brand they say the are (MODO) they should be fine.

Impressions: NEVER BUY FROM THEM. They don't listen to the customer and when I pointed out all of their screw ups and asked them to ship it express - they ignored me and shipped it ground. They SAID maybe I didn't read the small print that they always need a signature for shipments. It of course is being sent to my home where I wont be to sign. They are going to charge me another $10 to redirect even after I reminded them of all the crappy things they did.

If you like banging your head against the wall and not being listened to - use them. Otherwise, I'd rather pay full price and not be irritated on a daily basis.

Outlet: 39DollarGlasses.com
Ordered: 12/30
Received: quick delivery
Price was increased after placing the order
Communication: horrible
Quality: pretty poor quality
Impressions: very negative. GlassyEyes offered a link for $29 (+ shipping). The "Place Order" page indicated $29+ 4.95 = $$33.95, but AFTER I placed the order, 39DollarGlasses increased the price.
They send you "No Reply" email and force the customers to send messages through their website.
I sent an email, but they ignored it. Then I called them (the line was busy for a long time); a lady promised to look into the matter and called me back. It is now 4 days later, and nobody called back.
I will have to contact my credit card company.
The frame had a defect, but nobody checked before making the glasses.
A horrible experience; the company seems to be dishonest and sloppy.

Ordered: 2 Feb 08

Received: not yet

Price: $81.76

Communication: Received email confirmation of order. Kept checking order status at their website, on 13 February the glasses listed as shipped. Emailed them on 20 February, they stated glasses had failed quality check, had been redone, and would ship on 20 February, and that I would receive confirmation when they shipped. I have not received confirmation, have not received glasses, and am beginning to wonder if I ever will.

Quality: no idea yet

Impressions: Once they have the money, expect only canned responses and lame excuses.

Outlet: Goggles4U.com
Ordered: 2/15/2008
Received: 2/28/2008
Price: $25.99
Communication: Sent Order confirmation
Quality: They appear to be well built. An extra pair of nose pieces were included which probably means they don't expect those to last too long.
Impressions: Order was easy to place. Most options are included, other options are cleary laid out with prices. Case and cloth was a bit cheap but at least they include it. Lens Crafters didn't give me either for a pair of $300+ glasses. Price was very very good.

Outlet: optical4less
Received: jan 30, 08
Price: 130
Communication: lots of email (confirm order, tracking order)...including one to double check order (very kind of them),
Quality: great! got 3 pairs. two metal, one with 20% tint (a little light but now I know what 20% means) and 1 pair of rimless 100% yellow (night driving) I love all of them and switch them out often even changing pairs in the middle of the day as the mood strikes
Impressions: Night driving should not be 100% like I got. Go 50% if you like the idea.
Rating: 5 (and it's the 3rd time I've ordered from them...can I give them a 15?)

Outlet: Zenni
Ordered: March 17
Received: N/A
Price: $77
Communication: They emailed the next day saying my order had been "processed" but there was a problem: Frames would not work with my prescription (I had checked to make sure the lenses would accommodate progressive bifocals; there was no indication anywhere that my Rx was too strong for rimless frames). I emailed back cancelling my order, they emailed back saying my credit card would be credited. I am extremely displeased they would charge me before even filling my order or waiting for a response to the problem.
Quality: N/A
Impressions: I will not do business with them if they charge me before filling an order.

Outlet: EyeBuyDirect
Ordered: 26 March 2008
Received: 4 April 2008
Price: $52.40 (with the glassyeyes promo code)
Communication: I thought they were lacking. I received an email when I placed the order, and another to say they shipped. However, that email came 3 days AFTER the glasses came.
Quality: Better than expected (I got the Yukon). The Rx was right on and probably the best pair I've gotten online.
Impressions: Except the lack of communication, I was pleased. One thing that stuck out to me was I didn't have to pay extra for a "super Rx". Not that -2.75 cyl is exactly "super"... Also, the shipping box was securely taped and full of packing peanuts on the inside.
Rating: 4. The shipping time was a lot less than expected. I would recommend EDB to other people provided they don't have a lot of add-ons or special needs for their glasses.

Bought these glasses at LBW Eyewear on Jan 17, 2007.

1 WR058 Rimless Stainless Steel Frame @ $ 40.85 = $ 40.85
PD=64,OSsphere=-2.25,OScylinder=-0.25,OSaxis=30,ODsphere=-1.75,ODcylinder=-0.75,ODaxis=99,LensType=1.59 Poly Carb Lenses (+ $ 9.95),LensTint=No Sun Tint Selected,FrameColor=Gun Metal Colored Frame,ARCoating=AR Coating (+ $ 4.95)

Subtotal: $ 40.85
Taxes: $ 0.00
Shipping: $ 6.50 (USPS First Class)
------------------------------------------
Total: $ 47.35

After one of the lenses shattered, I had them checked out by Pearl Vision and was told the lenses are cheap plastic. The lenses were to be Poly-carbon. LBW Eyewear refuses to admit they shipped cheap lenses. No replacement, no communication, stay away from this outfit.

Outlet: Goggles4U
Ordered: June 2008
Received: about 3 weeks later
Price: $89 for progressive bifocals with multicoating
Communication: Email confirmation, then nothing until receipt about 3 weeks later.
Quality: was poor. Frames seemed flimsy, and I couldn't seem to focus well with both eyes. One lens kept popping out of the plastic frame and when I took it to an eyeglass repair shop, the technician pointed out that the left lens had been cut too large and didn't fit well into the frame. Because of this, the bottom of the frame was cracking and would likely soon break.

To their credit, when I emailed Goggles4U asking for repair or replacement, they asked me to send them a digital picture of the glasses (which clearly showed the defective lens). They promised replacement glasses at no charge, and gave me a website and authorization number. I ordered the replacements tonight and will let people know how they are.

In summary, I was very disappointed in the quality of my on-line purchase, however, they were responsive to my complaints and have promised a replacement. I'll let you know how that goes.

I give Goggles4u.com a 5 out of 5 rating.

I purchased a pair of glasses from this site and was pleasantly
surprised by the pair delivered. They were exactly as I ordered and
of high quality. People around the office have been shocked, SHOCKED
I tell you, that the pair only cost $58 shipped with AR/AS coatings
and transition lenses; all without using our vision benefit except for
the initial exam. Also it took about 8 working days from the time I
ordered until they were delivered. I am very happy with my purchase
and shopping experience.

Pros: Price, lens features, speedy delivery
Cons: of course, you can't try the frames on first, but that's a given
on the web with anything you purchase.

Outlet: Zenni
Ordered: 9/26/08
Received: 10/17/08
Price: $48.75 for one regular pair and one pair sunglasses
Communication: email confirmation of order
Quality: Sunglasses are fine (frame 2205). At first, loved the look of my regular pair (frame 4367) - but then noticed lenses are too small for frame (small gaps at inner corner of each side). Debating if I should risk the return process - or just live with it, for a $24 pair of "back up" glasses.
Rating: I'll say "4" - pending whether I have success with phoning and discussing the possible return.

Edit to my review of Zenni yesterday: They were quite friendly when I reached them on the phone last night, and were able to assure me that the gap between lens and frame was normal on this "cat's eye" style. Even pointed me to the "zoom" picture of the frame on the web which does show this when you look at it carefully.

Outlet: EyeBuyDirect
Ordered: November 18, 2008
Received: December 7th, 2008
Price: $46.85 then $31.85
Communication: Within 24 hours they notified me that the frames I had ordered were out of stock. They asked me to pick a new frames but provided no instructions on how I was supposed to make this change. I emailed them back the new frame type and they confirmed the refund due to the lesser cost. At no time did my original order online change, or get updated, or anything traceable or trackable take place to let me know the status. Other than the generic 14 days to process and ship notice- I had no idea how long this would take. It would up taking about 15 days just to ship.
Quality: Great. The frames are way better than I had hoped. the lenses are crystal clear. The fit left a bit to be done, adjustments and all, but still way better than I had hoped.
Impressions: I still wish they would get the original frames I wanted in stock, but they gave me a generic 3-4 months to restock notice when I asked. Clarifying the order modification process, and provide order status updates would be great.
Rating: 5 - I plan to buy other pairs.

Dear GlobalEyeGlasses,
Because I bought a pair of frames and lenses from you and since your frame is defective, I should not pick up the additional cost of trying to fit pre-existing lenses into new frames, which may not fit. The solution to this problem is for me to send the frames/lenses back to you and have you replace the frames which are not defective, or change to a new frame and reinsert the lenses at your cost, not mine. This correspondence is also posted on the www.glassyeyes.com website where you advertise, so that other potential customers are apprised of your defective frames and refusal to refund or replace.

The following email correspondence might be of interest to anyone considering a purchase from ZENNI.

Transcript, by latest date first, follows of ZENNI OPTICAL refusal of full refund or replacement and deceptive advertising of multifocal progressive lenses as noline bifocals…

*****************************************************

From Customer To ZENNI OPTICAL Sent: Wed, Jan 21, 2009 at 4:52 PM

Your frames have fallen apart, specifically the screw, which cannot be repaired because the screw is proprietary. I will return the frames to you for replacement. If you cannot provide me with multifical progressives as I requested, then you should issue a full credit.

Further, your website engages in deceptive advertising because progressive lenses are defined by the industry as multifocal, not noline bifocal. Your written statement on the web...." Progressive, no-line bi-focal, lenses need to have an absolute minimum of 32mm height, but here again we recommend at least 34mm or higher lens for a more comfortable viewing area"... implies that there are progressives plus noline bifocals which require a specific lens size. There is no direct definition of progressive = noline bifocal as a proprietary definition by ZENNI, contrary to good practices of the optometric industry. Therefor, ZENNI should either provide multifocal lenses which are progressive, or stop deceptive advertising.

A copy of this has been sent to the BBB, as well as Consumer Affairs, "glassyeyes", and my bank.

Subject: Not Progressives but nolinebifocals and frame is broken Re: Zenni Optical Order Shipped to You

These glasses are not progressives but noline bifocals. There is no transition area between distance and reading....thus cannot use for intermediate computer distance. Secondly, the right screw on these hingeless frames is dislodged and I have taken them to Lenscrafters and Cohen's Optical for adjustment, but neither have the tools to deal with this type of screw.....Please confirm receipt of this email. I will send these back to you and would like a refund which can be applied to a true progressive lens and another frame which can be adjusted. Thank you.

Outlet: goggles4u
Ordered: Jan. 9, 2009
Received: Jan. 24, 2009 (excellent turn-around time)
Price: about $57 for 2 pairs
Communication: order confirmation; updated for shipping date
Quality: Questionable. I'm a bit disappointed, compared to the Zenni pairs I got a couple of months ago and was able to wear straight out of the box. Both the metal semi-rimless pair and the plastic full-frame pair I got from goggles4u had their arms attached in such a way that they were visibly pointing in odd directions/not level. And thus neither pair is wearable at the moment, due to being so crooked. Hoping at least one pair may be adjustable at a local optical shop later today. Fear that the plastic frame may be so far "off kilter" that even they might not be able to help.

Outlet: Zenni Optical

Ordered: first pair on Nov 11 2008; secord pair on Dec 1 2008

Received: first pair on Nov 25 (shipped Nov 20, arrived in the country Nov 24); second pair on Dec 19 (shipped Dec 13, arrived in the country Dec 18)

Price: first pair $31.85 ($22.85 + $9 p&p from HK); secord pair $32.95 (23.95 + $9 p&p from HK)

Communication: shipping confirmation for first pair emailed on Nov 21; shipping confirmation for second pair emailed on Dec 27

Quality: very good

Impressions:
Plus points:
- wide choice of stylish frames for all tastes
- frame and lens specs were clear, so ordering was straightforward
- low price = no import taxes into Europe (yay!)
- fast shipping
- good packaging
- prescription was correct (I had them checked at a store)
- even though they were Standard (i.e. not thin), my 5.75 lenses are no more than 4mm thick at their thickest point

Note 1: Having read a review from another member, I was under the impression the lenses would be beveled, but they weren't. That made no difference for the first pair due to its construction (frame #2253), but in the case of the second pair (frame #5821) it would make the lenses appear thinner. So, if Zenni Optical is listening: please consider beveled lenses!

Note 2: The second pair came with a clip-on. If the lenses of the clip-on look opaque, it's because they are covered with a protective plastic film on both sides! Removing the film is easily done.

Minor complaint: As I mentioned before, the second pair came with a clip-on that is attached to the frame with a pair of magnets. In my case, one of the magnets doesn't sit firmly on the frames and can come lose. It's nothing a droplet of glue can't fix.

Rating: 5

I would certainly buy from them again!

Outlet: Goggles4U

Ordered: January 23, 2009

Received: February 6, 2009

Price: $68.40

Communication: Processed through CCNow, email notification of order and shipping immediate. I had concerns because I could not pull up any account activity on Goggles4U website, emailed them on January 5th, responded on the 6th, the same day glasses arrived.

Quality: Very good from what I can tell. Eyes are adjusting to new scrip.

Impression: I ordered two pair of the same frame, #14076.
Pair 1 ultra thin (1.67) lenses no tint for daily wear.
Pair 2 regular (1.57) lenses with 90% brown tint for sunglasses.
I have compared the lenses and there is no discernible difference in thickness. I do not know if they goofed and made both pairs the same thickness. I will definitely order again, just not the high index lenses.

Ordered: January 30, 2009

Received: February 6, 2009

Price: $9.95 (plus shipping)

Communication: Excellent. Received order confirmation immediately, shipping confirmation on 2/2/09 with tracking number.

Quality: Excellent

Impressions: I CAN FINALLY SEE WHEN I SWIM,and when my head is ut of the water. Fit and finish are excellent. No leakage. I searched around the web and found that most premade prescription swim goggles did not have .5 steps beyond -6.0. Since I am a -6.5 I felt this was an issue. Also the price couldn't be beat, $9.95, Speedo's where $19.99. Aren't we all here to save money? If you swim give 'em a try.

Outlet: Zenni Optical
Ordered: Jan 2, 2009
Received: Feb 7, 2009
Price: $50
Communication: Good
Quality: Seem of good quality

Impressions: Better than expected. Progressives not as good as ones bought locally. Has narrow corridor.
Rating: 4.

Everything ok, although progressives have more distortion than I had with my glasses bought from Lenscrafters. Maybe some of it can be minimized with frame adjustments. A good back up pair for sure. Frame is sturdy. Fairly pleased with them for the price. Just got them today. Will see how they work out.

Outlet: 39dollarglasses.com
Ordered: Jan 24, 2009
Received: Feb 09, 2009
Price: $159.60 USD including shipping to Canada.
Communication: received an email confirmation of the order the next day.
Quality: The frames are sturdy, well built, with spring hinges. Same quality as my designer ones. Lenses seem better quality than my brick and mortar purchased lenses of two years ago which had to be returned. I have had no trouble adjusting to the progressives and the prescription seems perfect.
Impressions: After receiving an estimate of $800 Canadian for new glasses (from my local optometrist) I decided that there was nothing to lose by ordering online. These glasses from 39DG were $200 CDN; one-quarter the price. They have progressive lenses and Varilux Airwear polycarbonate. A bonus: I was not charged GST, or PST, nor were the glasses held up at the border. They arrived by post in a US Postal Service Priority Mail cardboard envelope. There was no declaration of contents on the envelope. (Thus no taxes). The package took only 16 days to get from New York to British Columbia, Canada. Excellent!
Rating: 4/5. They don't get the full 5/5 because the frame selection for my size head (pinhead) was quite poor. I believe only 3 pairs would fit me. Luckily the ones I wanted were in stock.
Thanks for this website! I used your links and researched all the online merchants before I chose 39DG. I would go with them again.

Quality: The frames are sturdy with spring hinges. The same quality as my designer ones. The lenses appear to be of excellent quality. Better than the brick and mortar ones I purchased two years agos that had to be sent back because of 'crazing' on the lenses.

Outlet: Zenni Optical

Ordered: 1-12-09

Received: 2-9-09

Price: 38.80 for two pairs

Communication: Automated order confirmation email sent immediately. I called about 2.5 weeks later to see if my order had shipped, was told they hadn't shipped yet but that I would get a notification email when they did. I got a notification email on 2-5-09 reporting my glasses had shipped on 1-29-09, including a tracking number.

Quality: Frames: Mediocre. Lenses: Good+ Frames are definitely not as solid feeling as my mall-bought glasses, though ABSOLUTELY worth the money spent. Lenses are spot on, edge polished, and not as thick as I thought they would be, given that I stuck with the standard 1.57 lenses with my -5.50 prescription. The glasses came in cheapo pink translucent hard plastic cases and included a microfiber cleaning cloth.

Impressions: Zenni's customer service is pretty nonexistent; calling them took several tries between busy signals, full voicemail boxes, and being on hold for 10+ minutes. I did get my question answered in the end, though.

Rating: 3.5. My glasses are very fun and funky; I get tons of comments on them. Frames do feel kind of chintzy, though, and Zenni was pretty slow.

Outlet: FramesDirect.com
Ordered: 6/26/2008 and 1/13/2009
Received: 7/7/2008 and 2/19/2009
Price: $367.99 + $137.99 redo
Communication: I emailed with Erica Ramos and spoke to her a few times over the phone. She was nice and made an effort, but the results fell short.
Quality: The Oakley lab did a fine job making the sunglasses. My prescription is around 250, and the lenses look reasonable at that point, but at 300, they become very thick at the edges.
Impressions: They talk about it, but they are not really committed to customer service or retention, since they did not comp my redo or make any significant effort to win my loyalty.
Rating: 2.5

I ordered a pair of prescription Oakley sunglasses. My prescription was readjusted by my optometrist after I had some trouble, but FramesDirect did not offer to redo the glasses for free, as it was beyond the short warranty period they have, so they offered to redo them at 50%. I was already chafing at the expense, but agreed. The lab sent back the wrong prescription so FramesDirect had to resend it to the lab, taking two more weeks. When I received the frames back, my case was missing and the microfiber pouch was different. They are reordering a new case for me, but this has been more hassle than it was worth. I should have ordered through my optometrist directly.

Outlet: Goggles4U
Ordered: February 18, 2009
Received: February 27, 2009
Price: $57.00
Communication: Order verification. Notified when shipped.
Quality: This is the second pair I have ordered from goggles, the first pair I messed up on the pd. I ordered 63, but it looks like my pd is really 68. Big difference, my mistake. The glasses I now have are perfect in terms of the prescription, the glasses are very well made as are the frames. I should know, I have worn glasses since the age of 3, and have bought high-end frames all my life. Here are some of my recommendations for ordering online, based on my experience:

1. Get your pd correct, if you measure yourself, measure it at least a dozen times using all the methods listed on this site until you are very sure it is correct. My SO measured for me and he is a very careful and accurate person, and then I measured using the marker on your existing lens, and they came out quite similar (within 1 or 2 mm).

2. If you have a strong prescription, don't get glass. I got the super high index glass, and it is makes the glasses noticeably heavier and hurts my nose. Go for the cheaper lens.

I now have two pair of glasses, one that is unusable, but I still spent under a hundred dollars. (I have astigmatism and a strong scrip, so I am usually looking at minimum 350 for glasses and lens, and that is bargain shopping).

I really did not go online to buy glasses just for the low price, though that is certainly an incentive. I was honestly worn out looking at frame shops and not finding what I liked. I love the Tina Fey glasses look (thanks for featuring her), and also a lot of the larger tortoise frames you can see all over Europe and are finally coming to places like NY. But still not easy to come by and certainly not where I live. I was also REALLY sick of how limited the frame width is, as you can see from my PD, I have wide set eyes, and am a tall woman, and frame widths are also way too small, and shops just have stopped carrying anything but the one-size fits all frames (from what I can figure, for a petite woman). I figured if I could not get my dream glasses and still have to shell out hundreds of dollars, I was going to try seeing if I could find something online. The selection overall is still not great, but hey, at least I can buy several pairs and take some risks.

Sorry for the lengthy post, I just needed to vent about the sad state of affairs in frame choice.

I ordered a pair of glasses from Goggles4u. Within 2 months I noticed a metal defect on the right arm. This caused the arm to almost break off. I am unable to use glasses due to this defect.
After several emails and also sending them a picture of the defect. I was told that the best they could do was give me a small discount if I ordered another pair. They should back up their product and rectify this situation.

I would not recommend this company. I have since taken my complaint to Better Business Bureau.

Ordered: April 29
Received: May 17
Price: $173.95 - Progressives
Communication: Never was able to speak to anyone on the phone; took several tries and a long wait to talk to someone online
Quality: Good frames I suppose, but there have been so many problems it takes away from the quality!
Impressions: It took a long time to make my glasses and took several calls to find out they had to remake one of the lenses. When they finally arrived the frame was the wrong color - and they had the color listed correctly on their invoice! Plus one of the lenses was not made properly and I have to return them for both a new lens and the right color frame.
Rating: Right now I rate them 1, but if they can get it right in the end, I may raise it to a 3, becasue I'm saving almost $400, but no more than that since I've had too many problems.

Outlet: goggles4u.com
Ordered: Saturday, 6/6/09
Received: Monday, 6/15/09
Price: $85.49 for progressive lenses with the usual coatings, using 5% glassyeyes discount
Communication: Okay. Emails from goggles4u.com and from credit card processor confirming order.
Quality: Sturdy, snug fit, spring-loaded hinges; came with a serviceable case, keychain tightening tool, extra nosepads (not sure how I would use them!), and a microfiber cloth. Glasses were wrapped in the cloth and a sheet of cotton wool inside a cellophane wrapper, inside the case, in a somewhat flimsy-feeling cardboard box (box had been gouged in transit, but glasses were unharmed).
Impressions: This pair of rimless progressive bifocals is more stylish and WAY cheaper than the similar "designer" pair I bought 3 years ago retail for $600 (which recently began to fall apart). Glasses arrived about a week sooner than I'd expected -- probably as fast as, or faster than, they would have if I'd ordered them retail (I have a strong prescription that usually requires extra time). I was specifically wishing to purchase a pair very similar to my last pair, and picked goggles4u.com over 39dollarglasses, Optical4less, and EyeBuyDirect because they had what I wanted for the best price. Looks like I picked a winner.
Rating: 5. Really nothing to complain about, other than the less-than-exciting selection of frames that would accommodate progressive lenses. I will never pay retail for eyeglasses again!

Outlet: 39dollarglasses

Ordered: April 28, 2009

Received: May 19, 2009. Order returned May 22, not yet received.

Price: $58.01

Communication: Email verifications received that the first set of lenses failed quality control, and then when shipping occurred. I returned the defective glasses, and communication has been spotty since then.

Quality: Poor. Lenses were cut with the incorrect PD, and frames were visibly not straight (i.e., looking top-down, one side was visibly SEVERAL mm forward of the other).

Impressions: Clearly poor quality control, not good responsiveness after return, and I don't really feel as if they value my business at all.

Rating: [1 (bad) to 5 (good)] I can't give them anything higher than a 1, given that it's been nearly 2 months since I placed my order. I won't return.

Quality: Fine...I got what I expected wrt frames, and lenses are spot on. This was not my first Zenni order.
Impressions: I ordered 2 pair of 8 dollar plastic frames with single vision script and with 50% color tinting on each pair for fun. Got a purple frame with pink lenses and a clear frame with yellow lenses. The yellow will come in handy on overcast days while driving. The pink just look cute. I now own 12 pair of internet glasses. Impressions: The frames were a bit crooked and still seem maybe a little bit crooked? But honestly, I can see so well and the little bit they MAY be off, I could care less. I am impressed enough that I ordered another pair of lined bifocals for myself, one for my dh and one for my ds.

Received: 9/15/09

Price: $27.47 for frames, single vision distance CR39 lenses w/AR, Anti-scratch, and UV coatings, inc shipping. Extra nose pads, and a cleaning cloth were included in the (cheap) plastic case.

Communication: Email notifications when order received, when they began processing the order, and when the glasses were shipped.

Quality: Very good. The frames are well-built and sturdy. The lenses are clear and sharp. Seem as good as any I've purchased from the optician's office.

Impressions: Fast, accurate, and affordable. They fit (almost) perfectly right out of the well-packaged box. May have to do some slight adjusting with the nose pieces.I already have another pair (rx sunglasses, oh joy!) picked out to use the '5% off your next purchase' they give with your 1st order!

Rating: 4.9 - only drawback is not being able to try them on in person, but if you do your homework and/or a little research it is possible to get a good fit via the online experience.

Outlet: Zenni Optical
Ordered: 10/18/09 (2 orders)
Received: Orders did not go through
Price: About $100 total
Communication:
Quality: Zenni emailed me this morning to tell me that my orders failed and that my card would not be charged. It wasn't. I also inadvertantly duplicated another recent order today and called their 800 # to cancel. GREAT customer service experience.

Impressions: I called and was #6 in line and the calls were taken in order. I was on hold for maybe 5 minutes before I got a wonderful live customer service rep on the phone. She was able to access all of my orders and tell me which did not go through and which ones did. She was also able to cancel my recent order because we were less than 24 hours out. She gave me the status of 2 recent orders and sent me order confirmations that I did not receive because they have been having trouble with their web site. We spoke at length about the customer service and the product and she said that Zenni is really working to improve customer service (it shows!) and perfect prodct quality. Also, more lens choices are coming down the pike such as higher index lenses for multifocals and Transitions branded photchromatics.

Communication: 2 years ago - they did not respond. recent order, they contacted me to tell me they had broken the frame and could not fulfill my order.
Quality: poor build, incorrect perscription
Impressions: Not at all impressed with this company, I would rather pay more and get what I ordered.

Ira - can I get credit for the order for 2 pairs of prescription sunglasses from 2 years ago - is it worth fighting for this late?

Outlet: 39dollarglasses
Ordered: 12/17/2009
Received: 1/7/2010
Price: 175
Communication: Yes, they emailed
Quality: The glasses are fine, but the progressive bifocal area is unusable
Impressions: I ordered the rimless progressive bifocals. The first pair came in and the area of the bifocal is so narrow that I can not see when looking even straight ahead. I had to turn my head to see all of the even smallest text I was reading. The bifocal area is less than 1/4 inch. I called and explained the problem. They asked me to send them back. I did and eventually they replied that there was nothing wrong, but suggested I have them remade on a bigger lenses. I agreed and when I received them today, the same issue is present. The bifocal area is so small they are useless. I had to pay extra to have them remade. I will never use this company again. There is clearly a problem, but they will not fix it without me paying even more money.

Ordered: November 23, 2009
Received: December 21, 2009
Price: $81 (with GlassyEyes discount)
Communication: Order verification. Notified when shipped, with tracking number.
Quality: Good. Tiny nick under right lens near filament (they are half-rims), bridge about 1 mm. higher on right than on left. Made to prescription. Lightweight and comfortable. Only minor adjustment needed.
Impressions: Measurements on site accurate. Default pictures gave me a good idea what the frames would look like on someone with my face shape and coloring.

The glasses sat at the Hong Kong post office for ten days.

Outlet: 39dollarglasses.com
Ordered: 16/10/09
Received: 26/11/09
Price: $139.00 Cdn
Communication: emailed an order confirmation and emailed when the glasses were shipped (almost a month later)
Quality: It was obvious to me right away that there was something wrong with the left lens. I kept trying to wear them but there was too much distortion. I finally called them and was instructed to send the glasses back for testing. Waited another three weeks and heard nothing. Finally called them today and after a lot of waiting was informed that they had received the glasses back and they had failed inspection. Would I like them remade or a full refund? I opted for the refund as I have now been without new glasses for three months and would rather put the money towards someone competent even if it does mean overpaying!
Impressions: All the staff I spoke to were very helpful but the overall experience was awful. This was my first attempt at buying glasses online and I think it will likely be my last.

Outlet: Zenni
Ordered: January 3, 2010
Received: January 19, 2010
Price: $33
Communication: Order verification. Notified when shipped, with tracking number.
Quality: Plastic sunglasses very good. Reader stainless steel temples surprisingly thin, seem flimsy. Both made to prescription.
Impressions: Zenni's site says that temple length is "from the front of the frame to the tip of the temple," but the dimension given on the site is actually from the hinge to the tip of the temple. Consequently, what is listed as a 129 mm temple actually is 132 mm, and a 135 mm temple listing is really 140 mm.

The finish on both pair is good. Lenses fit frames, no rough edges, coatings are even.

I would definitely consider Zenni for a spare pair of single vision glasses. Unfortunately, I cannot find frames there in my size that would accommodate bifocals.

Outlet: goggles4u.com
Ordered: June 22, 2009
Received: I think about ten days later.
Price: ~$80
Communication: email
Quality: excellent
Impressions: I had ordered photocromic coating, and the glasses arrived without it. I decided I wanted a refund instead of getting new lenses. About a month ago, the glasses began randomly turning gray, and not completely across the lens. I contacted goggles4u but they refuse to do a lens replacement. They offered me a discount on getting new lenses. They also told me I had to pay them for the refund since the glasses are turning gray. I am not happy about this situation and will not order from them again.

Ordered: March 20, 2010
Received: April 7, 2010
Price: $45
Communication: Terrible. And website still says my glasses are being made (wearing them as I type)
Quality: Fair. Great for price, but not as a high a quality as others I have paid a lot more for. Of course, I did not buy the most expensive on their site
Impressions: Great selection on website, give lots of detail (width of frame, size of lenses), terrible communication, but the glasses are good. Not sure they got my pd exactly correct (it is split and there is no real way on the site to enter the data). Have to get my optometrist to check for me. They seem great though.

Communication: They never responded to my complaint about the shipping problem.
Quality: I ordered what was supposed to be identical frames to the ones I had broken. When I received them, they seemed like they were counterfeit pieces of plastic garbage that were hard to open up...nothing like the original frames I had.
Impressions: They put pieces of CANDY in the package they put the glasses in. Who sends laffy taffy and hershey's kisses to customers other than ebayers????

Quality: I ordered 1.56 index distance vision glasses with $14 frame. Lens quality was good, just like my local costco shop glasses. Frame I received was slightly warped at the nose bridge. The handle broke while adjusting it. I called in toll-free number and described my problem. They asked to send it in by USPS and got a replacement (in 2weeks) that fitted without any problems. I ordered (nervously!) glasses from Zenni- came in less than 2 weeks, WONDERFUL!! I was more than pleased!! I got a super thin lens, half frame pair of nice glasses with all the coatings for $45 including shipping. WILL DEFINITELY DO THAT AGAIN!! My last "real" pair was not as nice, and cost me around $200 at Costco. (I DO love Costco!!)

Ordered: June 25, 2010
Received: July 3, 2010
Price: $48.90 with Glassyeyes discount
Communication: Emailed me with tracking number when shipped
Quality: The frames are sturdy and the glasses were made properly. The prescription is nice, and the AR and UV coatings are nice(something I've never had before). However, they sit crooked on my face due to very obviously out of alignment temple arms. I adusted them using a video I found on ehow.com and now they are fine.
Impressions: The glasses aren't bad at all and even though I know all glasses need adjusting, I think the temples being uneven was something that should have been checked before shipping them out. Even so, I will probably use them again.

Outlet: EyeBuyDirect.com
Ordered:July 23, 2010
Received: August 6, 2010
Price: $35.80 (for 2 pair during their BOGO sale)
Communication: I mistakenly entered a different PD for each pair. They emailed me the next day about the discrepancy and only sent through the order after I emailed them back with the correct PD. Despite this delay, glasses still came in 2 wks. as promised.
Quality: $25 frames much nicer and better built than I expected. The Rx is perfect.
Impressions: Prior to placing this order, my husband ordered a pair that had to be returned because the earpiece was too long. When I called customer service, the rep was very polite & immediately agreed to the return & emailed a printable return authorization within 5 minutes. I mailed them back from the Post Office, then called customer service with the postal tracking number, whereupon they posted the credit to my card the next day before they even got the glasses back! Superb customer service & a great return policy!
Rating: 5+ based on great customer service.

Outlet: GlassesUSA.com
Ordered: August 16, 2010
Received: August 25, 2010
Price: $38.91(after 30% discount found on the web)
Communication: I received an email confirming my order and an Email on August 25 saying they had been shipped but when I checked the USPS tracking number, it indicated the glasses were shipped August 23 and were already in my box. Not sure if it was glitch or what, just kind of unusual.
Quality: The glasses are well made and the prescription is correct. The coatings I ordered are on the lenses.
Impressions: The glasses were shipped with a cleaning cloth in a solid clamshell case, which was wrapped in bubble wrap, which was packed in a cardboard box. I also received a 15% off coupon for my next purchase, and 10% off for anyone I refer.

One thing I noticed was when I took the glasses out of the case was the lenses were dirty. It wasn't just a little lint or dust, but smudged with fingerprints as well. I had to really use the cloth to get them clean.
Rating: 4 The email thing didn't make sense, and the dirty lenses kind of bothered me. I've ordered from 2 other online glasses shops and didn't have this problem. Even so, I will probably use them again and recommend them to others.

Outlet: 39dollarglasses.com
Ordered: 09/17/2010
Received: 09/30/2010
Price: $127.76 after coupon found on the web and SmartFit rewards for being a repeat customer.
Communication: Received an email acknowledging the order, and an Email with tracking number when they were shipped.
Quality: Glasses are well made, prescription is correct, and all coatings appear to be on the lenses. The frame is a little crooked though, temple arm slightly off, but I was able to adjust it. I ordered Transition VI photochromic lenses, and they do get darker in the sun like they should.
Impressions: Normally with Transitions lenses, the shop sends a Certificate of Authenticity with them so the lenses can be registered at the Transitions website. I received no such certificate. I emailed them and the next day, they said if the lenses didn't change, they'd send me a return label and in the meantime, they were going to send me the certificate.

Outlet: Coastalcontacts.com
Ordered: October 9, 2010
Received: October 15, 2010
Price: $44.80
Communication: They emailed me when the order was placed and again when shipped with tracking information.
Quality: I ordered a Kohl half rim from their selection of $6.99 frames. The frame is kind of flimsy, maybe I got what I paid for. I ordered a 1.61 index lens and all the coatings, and they appear to be on the lenses.
Impressions: The glasses were shipped in a cardboard box without any padding in a clamshell case. The case is pretty solid, which protected them as they arrived undamaged. They were in a small bag within the case. Also enclosed were a keychain screwdriver and a cleaning cloth. I guess they will work well for a backup pair, but not sure how they would hold up under daily wear.

They carry a variety of designer frames. Perhaps if I'd gotten one of their other frames, I would have gotten a less flimsy frame.

Outlet: 39dollarglasses
Ordered: September 6, 2010
Received: September 25, 2010
Price: $74, $183
Communication: Email order verification. Email when shipped. Getting ahold of them by phone sometimes involved a 20 minute wait on hold, though you do get a person after that.
Quality: 3
Impressions: The website added an extra charge to my order (prescription out of normal range when it was not) that I had to call the to get removed. The lenses were good--appear to have all the correct coatings and correct prescription. One of the two frames (rimless bendable Ti) had a loose joint, so I sent that pair back for repair. They paid return shipping. Unfortunately, they didn't repair it (probably just returned it hastily after I called to check on its status after a week), so I returned it a second time, and it is now fine after some difficult adjusting. I would not recommend getting a bendable Ti frame if you know you'll have to do some adjustment, as they are much more difficult to adjust than a normal frame (since they just bend and spring back).

Outlet: ClearlyContacts
Ordered: February 3, 2011
Received: February 4, 2011

Hey Ira,

Just wanted to tell you about great experience with clearlycontacts.ca aka coastalcontacts in USA. Companies living up to their claims are so rare that I definitely will take the time to give clearlycontacts props. So I ordered 1 Day Acuvue Mois 30 pack and Acuvue Oasis 6 pack for total of $88 with shipping. I ordered Thursday afternoon and received Friday morning! 2 days later I found lower price from another online contacts retailer and emailed clearlycontacts, they promptly let me know they would beat the price. I then found another online contacts seller with lower price emailed them again and they did new price calculation of $71; however they miscalculated shipping and when I pointed out Canada shipping from the competitor was only $9.99 (from USA) they promptly acknowledged and deducted another $10 off my order. So ultimately my original order of $88 will be billed at $61 and ClearlyContacts/CoastalContacs clearly honor their lowest price guarantee. I definitely recommend them for your Contacts and Eyeglasses needs (they have Tom Ford frames at 1/3 to 1/2 off competitors). I am usually expecting mediocre to bad service so this was really a pleasant surprise!

Received: July 26, 2011
Price: $63.71 after SmartFit Rewards.
Communication: Email when order placed then another with tracking number when shipped.
Quality: Poor
Impressions: I purchased the Edmonton frame from 39dollarglasses.com and when I received it, within minutes of trying it on, the frame literally fell apart. A screw on the right temple popped out and I wasn't able to put it back together. I think one lens may be too big for the frame and it may have been forced together. What I noticed was the screw was put in from the bottom on that side, and the top on the other, which tells me something wasn't done right. On top of that, I used the $15 discount from GlassyEyes and even though it appeared to be applied on the final order, the emailed invoice, and what was billed to my credit card, didn't include the discount. That's a moot point anyway because I've decided to return these glasses for a refund and I'm not going to do business with them again. They've given me good glasses in the past but have really gone down hill.

Ordered: August 15, 2011
Received: August 25, 2011
Price: $37.80
Communication: Received an email when the order was placed then an email with a tracking number 8 days later.
Quality: I ordered frame #316721 with the 1.57 index single vision lenses, anti reflective coating, and a clip on sun shade. The glasses were shipped in a clamshell case with cleaning cloth, which was inside of a bubble envelope. The glasses arrived without any damage. The prescription is correct, the coatings are on the lenses, and the lenses are very clear. I found the frame to be kind of flimsy and bends a little too easily. The nosepads were adjusted in a strange way, actually facing backwards towards the face instead of inwards towards the nose, so they required some major adjusting.
Impressions: The prescription and lenses are very good, but the flimsiness of the frame and the nosepad thing kind of bothered me. They are a nice looking pair of glasses though, and will probably do as a backup pair for those times I'm not wearing my contact lenses and am doing an activity, like working on the computer, when I don't want to wear my bifocals. I'm not sure how well they'd hold up under daily wear though.

Price: $250.88 for 2 pairs, 1 bifocal, 1 Bifocal Transition VI photochromic lenses. Price after 20% CyberMonday discount and SmartFit Rewards
Communication: Received Email when order submitted, then an Email with tracking number when shipped.
Quality: Glasses were shipped in a clamshell cases in a bubble envelope. Each pair of glasses also had a small bag to keep them in. Also included were 2 cleaning cloths and keychain glasses screwdrivers. The Transitions pair fit fine without any adjustments, but non-Transitions pair needed adjusting because they sat crooked on my face, which I've had before with this company. I thought this was odd because both were the same frame(Dallas), just in different colors. They were put together correctly and the prescription is correct. The only other problem was the Transitions Certificate of Authenticity was not included with the lenses, so I've had to request it. This happened with my last pair of Transitions from this company. Not a bad experience, not perfect, but not bad.
