Hello,
This is a general question. You've mentioned Luxotica being something to avoid. I'm confused. The sites you reference here sell Luxotica owned brands. Can you explain how this works? Are you recommending that we shop with those sites, just not for the brands Luxotica owns? Thank you.

To clarify, I'm not a fan of the way Luxottica does business. I think they're almost entirely responsible for us paying hundreds more than we should be for what is in essence a relatively simple medical device.
That said, a couple of the places I cover online carry some Luxottica brands along with generics or their own house-brands.
I don't buy Luxottica, but I know some people feel they need their Ray-Bans, Pradas and Bulgaris.
I prefer not to pay massive licensing fees for a name on the frame. - At January 19, 2011 at 11:30 PM Brandy said...

The "DEAL30" is still going as of mid January! Yay, new glasses!
Funny, I'm just mid-40's age, and my prescription is finally stabilized for 4 years, but I need progressively higher magnification for reading each year! Sigh.
I keep recommending your site to my glasses wearing friends, ESPECIALLY the one who is wearing the SAME GLASSES FROM COLLEGE!!
Now - where can one get an eye exam for under $80? (I go to the VA for free, and hubby's exam at Sear's cost over $100!) - At February 2, 2011 at 1:44 PM Paul said...

The deal mentioned here expired, but they're offering a similar multi-coupon deal right now.
But if you use the code "goggles4u" instead, you might save even more, depending on your order. (I used a search engine to see if they had any coupon codes, and that one showed up at a coupon info website.) Using this code, I got a pair of very nice rimless glasses for only $10, including shipping.
I also discovered that if you want more than one pair, and you order each pair in a separate order with the coupon code, you will often end up spending less than by making one large order. Since they charge $5 to ship each pair, a larger order doesn't save you anything on the shipping charge.
